Torchwood = Methadone

Being a tad behind, I’ve just watched the season premier of Torchwood. Even though it was really quite odd, I was oddly drawn to it. Then it hit me…

Torchwood is the methadone of Doctor Who fandom…

… and I loved the end of the world reference

Dalek Gelth and other finale wtf-ness

Hmmm… Toclafane… really…

These mechanic-looking beings came from a void-ish type hole, turns out they’re simply vehicles for a mutated creature

… and wait… hey, I know that voiceGelth? Is that you?

Although, I will admit, that being pro-Dalek I am very, very, very glad the Daleks weren’t called upon to save the day again… After two series finales, I think they deserve some well-earned time off!

“I am a Dalek” by Gareth Roberts

Short synopsis: The 10th doc and Rose encounter a Dalek in present-day England…

Okay, so obviously, with a Dalek, this book gains instant likability points and old-school fans will definitely appreciate some of the references to the classic Whoniverse. Unfortunately, as a “Quick Read” book, anyone over twelve might feel a bit silly reading this in public.

Doctor Who Soundtrack

This cd is truly fantastic! Listening to it is like watching the the adventures for the first time… I especially liked “The Lone Dalek”, and “The Daleks” … (a bit obvious, no?)

Oh, and while we’re on the subject of Daleks, Wikipedia has an interesting observation:

“The Daleks” contains male vocalists singing “Oh, mah koreh”, which is Hebrew for “what is happening?”.

Later on in the song however, we hear something else (sounds like they’re saying “Sanjay Gupta“, but I’m pretty sure that’s not it).
