I thought it would be incredibly cool to have a replica of the Tardis key… After some research with the S1 DVDs, I managed to figure out it was made my some British company. I emailed them the screenshots I’d found, and asked if they could pinpoint which product it was. I was pretty amazed when I got a response (most American companies would’ve ignored a request like that).

Now for the hard part, finding some way to get it stateside…

Okay, I’m finally all caught up with posting about my already completed Daleks. That took way longer than expected (I’ve once again discovered I am not a photographer).

In the upcoming weeks, I’d like to give these guys their own project page, which will include a tutorial on how they’re made…

After Doomsday my fiance requested his own Dalek Sec so it could sit on his desk.

After years of being a crocheter, I had recently learned how to knit (unrelated hand injuries had made crocheting painful, so I was forced to seek out alternative methods). I didn’t think knitted fabric would be as suited for my purposes, but I gave it a shot:

After watching “The Lone Dalek”, I so very much wanted a plush version of a Dalek. I was really surprised to find out that no one was making them… Like a craftier version of Davros, I realized I’d have to create my own…

Allow me to introduce you to “Bling”, the very first member of my Dalek Empire:

I remember my initial thoughts were “he shouldn’t be that hard to make”… hehe… Between the 11 panels, 56 balls, and all the other little intricacies that make Daleks unique, this guy took a month to finish. Considering I was working soley off of production photos, he came out pretty good (though a bit anerexic looking, and his plunger droops a bit)…

Some of the details: he was mostly constructed made with Glitterspun, a disproportionately small hook (I actually broke one in half), and polyfil. The panels were crocheted seperately and then stitched together. Also, each of the 56 balls were individually crocheted and attached after the skirt was assembled.

Rose By Any Other Name is a kitschy (and slightly risque) Doctor Who parody that pokes fun at well known characters (both in and out of the Whoniverse).

Doctor Who came in 23 in Entertainment Weekly’s “The Sci-Fi 25″. Yes, I know, it should’ve easily taken the #1 spot… but hey, I’m impressed that the show’s gotten any attention in American press.

For us state-side fans, Who-references in anything pop-culture-ish are few and far between… So, I am thrilled to report that I personally witnessed one such Who-nod last night on the Colbert Report.

So it’s Doctor Who Saturday, and I’ve managed to lock myself out of the OG Forums while trying to change my email address.

I wish I had some insight into why OG Forums are so incredibly locked down… New registrations require mod review before even being able to view threads… sigh…

I’m going to go and mope now…
